Still Life
SOLD OUT
|
If you
have taken a still life class before from me, this is a brand
new workshop. Students will learn the basic texture and shading
techniques necessary to realistically render a variety of
contrasting textures, such as reflective metal, rusted
metal, paper, wood, glass and liquid. Lighting situations for still life
art will be discussed and demonstrated, as well as how light can
effect the appearance of these varied textures. Compositional
techniques will be covered so the students will understand how the
achieve maximum impact and realism. Reference photos and drawing
from life will be discussed in depth, and
students will learn how to identify and solve potential problems when
working with both.

May 8th - 10th:
Portraits - Rough Skin|
SOLD OUT
|
The
focus of this class will be portraits of subjects with rougher
skin. I use entirely different techniques to produce realistic
looking rough textured skin. This is great for character
studies, older men, or any subject that you would want to
accentuate texture. A reference photo and the basic outline of the
final project will be supplied so
students can concentrate on the "fun" part of the drawing
process with the emphasis on shading, texturing, and making the
portrait come to life. |

June 11th - 13th: Portraits

This class will focus the techniques
necessary to create realistic looking smooth skin texture on females and
babies. Students will learn the techniques necessary to render
the textures of smooth skin, eyes, lips, and hair, with graphite, carbon, charcoal, and various
blending techniques. Reference photos will be discussed in depth, and
students will learn how to identify and solve potential
problems. The class will culminate with everyone (including me) working
